Breakouts can be tricky. I often choose the wrong ones to go with and get stp'd out. When this happens a few times it becomes background as to following those entry models in my Trade Plan when they reappear. Today, with a decent set of trades under my belt and my profit goal reached early into the 1st Frame, I passed on a breakout model that appeared well before the end of the frame... and watched it fall 10 pts in profits without me. On the emotion side of things, missing that trade hurt a lot more than all the annoying stp-outs of the day before. That's how it goes. Nothing hurts more than missed opportunities... and even that can become a negative background to trading in the form of a sense of pressure not to miss potential opportunities, even trading outside one's plan in order not to miss them. Don't trade outside your plan. And if a breakout model is in your plan, then take it regardless as to whether the last one worked or not. If your breakout models are not finding any consistency in breakout mode, then you have the wrong filters and they have no business in your plan in the first place. But if they are in your plan, then trade them. You can't have it both ways. Putting anything in your plan that you do not take as a trade because you 'didn't like the trade' the very essence of weakness you thought to eradicate by having a Trade Plan in the first place.

When we miss in-trend entries, and the market takes off hard without us, we are usually left waiting for pullbacks to enter into the trend we've missed, or choose structural and support level intersections from which to fade the trend into a reversal. Today, having missed both TF and NQ opening short signals, and no pullback bounces on which to get short, I was left to fading the initial collapse, and all unsuccessfully. The slowness and apparent incompleteness of that early low seemed only to extend the eventual pullback far beyond reason, so the pullback short opportunities were challenging as well. Keep your losses manageable. Valid entry models will eventually reappear at the right edge of your video screen. It may only mean that you recover from losses with subsequent gains, but not all days are destined to be profitable. The market is full of surprises that overwhelm your expectations. Stay within your limits, accept your stp-outs with humility. Stay with the game until you've reached your trading limits, whether in losses or in total number of trades taken. Today's resolution is to return to full readiness when ORB setup trades appear, and take them to get a jump on such early explosive openings to be on the right side of things... and if those trades are missed, resist entering into those early trend fades when clear signs that support levels are being ignored are playing out before your eyes. Stay calm...accept the outcome.

Each trading day provides a whole chapter in potential learning experience and lessons in trade entry and management. But sometimes it just teaches you humility that the the methods and models you use don't call every turn. Today, after yesterday's capture of some nice swooning excursions, I went again hunting for Rhino. ....only to come home having only bagged a few squirrels. And to prove me wanting not only in method but in patience, the market offered me the expected entry model minutes after I had left the screen near the end of the 1st Frame, having quit for the day. In trading, it's usually the missed profits that bother you the most, far more even than any losses accrued. Stay patient. Wait out the frame. It doesn't matter if the market turns or breaks out without you if those entries were not in your Trade Plan. What matters only is that you stick to your Plan. ...and a good weekend to all....

WorkDone is an important concept in trend excursion and reversal. Today in the TF contract at the 1st Frame lows is a perfect example. Price just needed to clip the Globex night session low, even by a tick, before the excursion of that trend test was finally rejected in favor of a larger bull correction to the recent decline. Stay focused. The market tells us where the best places to buy and sell every day, but as Heraclitus noted, "Fools, although they hear, are like the deaf." And market participants, although they see, always seem to remain blind to the messages given them every day at their own place of work.

When the bear is eager, care must be taken to recognize the Trade Entry Models quickly....and have the heart to stay with them. The early fades were certainly not working well as signals for a Persistent Trend Day Down began to appear, but when the key breakdown trigger appeared as a Failing Inverted H&S, I balked at the trigger because the action was a bit choppy. I let my frustrations dictate my trade action rather than the plan. I even called the short entry in the members chat room, and yet didn't follow through on taking the trade myself. Once the breakout occurred, I was left with trying to fade at the support zones below.... again obeying my frustrations at missing the breakdown dominate instead of acting on a Trade Plan. Thus, I was left little in hand for the frame. Look over all your Trade Entry Models each day before the action begins, especially note those you haven't seen in awhile, those in particular are more likely to appear now soon. When they appear, take the entries whether you 'feel' good about the trade or not ...and almost to the degree to which you are apprehensive about the outcome is the degree to which success is more likely to occur. Be the Trade Plan and no other.

Trading is not based on which way you think the market wants to go....it's based on the models that appear at the right edge of your video screen. Today I shorted the market at the highs of the 1st hour. I was pretty sure it was going higher and I was about to get stopped out. So tickled was I to be making some profits as it fell that I settled for a simple mechanical profit. I was wrong about my opinions but I still took the trade. The model was right and I was wrong. Trade your models. We don't predict, we position. Get in the trade, and manage the outcome. Except the outcome. That is all we know in trading, and all we need to know.

On some days, the best trades are not fading price extremes, but the inflections that take price to them. And the filters for knowing which breakouts to take and which to ignore can be a subtle and elusive formula. Only one was clearly a model in my Trade Plan's current litany, but there is much to learn from every day, as the market always tells us where the best places are to enter, if we would be only listen... stay focused...

Sometimes you fail your Trade Plan... sometimes your Trade Plan fails you... and sometimes your internet fails during the 1st Frame on a day where the initial model entry setups were the best in several days... it did, however, come to life near the the Low-of-Day (LOD) but could only get my head around a small YM position. Thereafter, I misjudged the strength of the Die Hard Bull, but survived serious losses with decent TF net break-even management, although not so well in the NQ. Let's try that again tomorrow... only this time, let's get online first....

On some days, you fail your Trade Plan. ...as I did yesterday at a key opportunity on a morning of few TF opportunities within the Plan. But on other days, the Plan can fail you. ...or more correctly, your Trade Plan is inadequate at some junctures where turns take place without you, and successful breakouts and breakdowns take place that can only be described as a surprise. Of course you must consider what else you're missing that might have been included in future entry models, always considering changes to your Plan very, very carefully before committing to any. But otherwise, just live with it. Tomorrow is another day. Enter the trades according to your Plan, and manage them the best you can. Some days are better for trading than others....

A single big slam down today presented some challenges in TF trading, and yet not outside the Trade Plan. I just failed to get my head around the trigger in time to acknowledge what was in front of me. I also let the NQ relative strength caution me away from trading what was in front of me in the TF contract. Trade what's in front of you. Ignore the initial divergence as action tries to uncover the trend. The TF stands alone and on its own as these efforts unfold. Read the Trade Plan of these more challenging models into the voice in your ahead before trading begins. This is how you prepare. Not with suppositions about which way the market is supposed to go based on overnight action, but on what appears in front of you at the right edge of your video screen.

2nd Trends require another set of entry models. But we get comfortable in our approach, and this comfort can also be aided by the trend prejudice that 1st trends often instill. So it was that I missed several decent bull breakout entries on the way back up today, and underestimated the 'after-life' so typical of 2nd trends. Stay alert. Your behavior models as a trader must be as rehearsed as your technical entry event models. If this, then that. Always note where you are in the day's events. Shift with the market. It's all in front of you. The market tells us everyday where the best entries are. Study those places wherein you were most apt to be stp'd out and proven wrong. ...therein lie the profits that have alluded you. ....and a good weekend to all...

Trading requires quick admissions of when your positioned wrong, or you have exited too soon. When at a critical turn, at a point where the market action is a persistent grind, and the individual index contracts are out of sync and giving false divergent signals, it is easy to get in too early before the turn is actually complete. Fine. You're not clairvoyant. So don't beat yourself up. Just look at what's in front of you without trend prejudice. Is the entry model there...or is it not? That is all you need to consider. And if it's still there, despite some whipsaw action, surviving the action that action knocked out your stops, then get back in. Stops are there to protect you from the big surprises, where you had everything assessed incorrectly, or failed to recognized the juncture as a potential inflection. Accept what the market is at every moment you are trading. It needs no excuse or reason. It just is. Observe the market. Be the Trade Plan. ...and a good weekend to all...

A key stp-n-rev breakout trade was missed today on the short side, even after a successful short had already been near the High-of-Day just minutes prior. For some reason, had assumed some bullish trend prejudice and didn't see my way to the key elements clearly visible requiring a neutral stance that would accept further failure of the pullback as trigger and signal of a deeper reversal. When we get fixated on a trend belief, it's as if we won't let our minds hear what our eyes are already seeing. As Heraclitus noted, 'Fools, although they hear, are like the deaf'. Take a screen capture of those moments. Recall where your head was at the turn. Listen to what you should have heard. The market is always telling you the best places to enter if you'll only observe without prejudice and listen.

Patience is perhaps the most difficult attribute to learn as a Trader. And the moment that most calls for patience is when trying to recover from an earlier loss with the current entry that has, in fact, unbeknownst, captured the next intraday swing correctly. But because getting even or just better is such a safe haven of relief, you are all the more apt to chuck the patience right out the window for the meager piece of the looming excursion for the comfort of the Accountant's prime directive, security. How much easier it is to muster the required patience for the fuller excursion when today's P&L reflects no worries whatsoever, with enough in the bank to make the day and even some to spare. So little is required to show patience there that one can barely claim it to be patience at all. More accurate then to call it just being cavalier. No, true patience is defined, like bravery, by its opposite. As true bravery is only defined by overcoming the presence of fear, so patience is only defined by its opposite, whatever that is, shall we say, anxiety. When you can ride out a trade's fuller excursion in the face of real anxiety, only then can you say to have exhibited patience.

At another potential pivot juncture today, it was the Plan that failed me, almost as if to pour salt in the wounds of me having failed the management Plan earlier. But shaking that off, the same model appeared just before the end of the 1st Frame, and sticking to the model, recovered an earlier loss with a decent 1-lot position. Of the two more true, me or the Plan, the Plan's consistency in delivery always bests my own efforts at following it.

Also of special note today, was my repetition of yesterday's mistake of not giving the Rule of Alternation more respect. It only cost me half as much in losses as it did today, but it seemed that I only learned the lesson half way towards what it deserved. Pay attention. Renew efforts towards acknowledging precise conditions. Stay focused. Stick to the Trade Plan.

Better estimates of expected wave lengths can easily be made by simply acknowledging the Rule of Alternation. Today I left my focus relax on that issue and stepped into shorts too early in the TF twice. But when further signals in the TF failed to materialize, I did make up some ground in the NQ. Focus must exist under the dichotomy of being relaxed yet with razor sharp focus. Review the list of technical considerations as the potential Entry Model approaches. Act accordingly. Be disciplined.

Less trades is better than more. Looking back to yesterday, is even now hard to remember what possessed me to such over-trading. But that's how the mental game works. Sometimes it's as if something takes over for our better selves, unknown to us, as if on our behalf. That's why it's so important to give the Trader voice. The Trade Plan is the text of the Trader, and gives him voice. Read it aloud before each day's opening session, so that the Trader feels a presence and is the only voice in your head.

Today, I balked at taking a 3rd contract at the HOD as stipulated by the plan. The heat of the TF's bull leadership was so impressive, and I still had yesterday's 2nd Trend action bubbling up in my memory, and the pain of being stp'd out by it along the way. But the model was perfect. Trade the models. The Plan is comprised of them. They were included for good reason. Be the Plan.

Volatility can draw you in like a moth to the flame. And when you start treading water and giving back profits, you can trade past your maximum number of trades allowed per frame thinking volatility will eventually come to serve you. I suffered this malaise today and gave up all the good NQ profits unable to accept the 'after life' of the 2nd trend. Today's action was especially whippy and should have filtered me out from taking those additional trades, but I succumbed to temptation and paid for it. Don't let market action and volatility tempt you to trade outside your limits. You won't miss all the opportunities. Sit it out for awhile. Take measure of the day.

Earlier in week was spanked hard by overplaying what I read as just a pullback, ignoring a WorkDone signal at the slam-down low, Channel Midpoint support from two days earlier. There is a temptation to try and get those losses back quickly. This often results in a sort of revenge trading, taking even greater risks than those that incurred the losses in the first place. But the best revenge is consistency. Once lost, that money is gone forever. You can never actually get that piece of capital back. But you can recover your positive equity curve by returning to consistently profitable days. Forget your losses, unless they trigger a Behavior Governor that returns you to the simulator. Instead, focus on the day at hand. Stay disciplined. Return to consistency and profits will return to your account to overtake your losses. ...but your losses......those are gone for good.

The most important element to your success as the Trader is consistency, not big days. Suffering through a long series of losing days in order to capitalize well and overcome those losers with a nice net profit might be good for the mind set of Larry Williams, but for most of us, a series of losing days is debilitating, to say the least. Thus as a behavior governor to a trade plan, 2 or 3 losing days in a row should have serious consequences. ...namely, it's time to go back to the simulator. Getting back your losses the very next day, however, is exactly what the Accountant wants of you. And he might be willing to take any amount of risks and stretch any number of entry models to suite an entry if it means that losses might be recovered from recent days. Instead, it is best just to regain some consistency. Be willing to quit early if necessary just in order to report a profit on a day after a losing day. Your losses are gone forever. You can't ever have that money back. But you might earn your way back into your positive equity curve by regaining a streak of consistently winning days. Put it in your Plan. Be the Plan.

Sometimes you fail your Trade Plan. The trades are all in front of you, but you balk, or believe you know better than your plan and proceed into a trade without it. But sometimes your Trade Plan fails you. On those days, its the volatility that you depend on so much blows right through your stops, one level after another. But there is always something to learn from any day's losses. And today, I failed to recognize, unlike the low on Friday, that today's low was just as significant as a WorkDone concept and more worthy of my respect than my early shorts proffered. Slow down when surprising volatility appears. Something bigger is afoot than your normal stops and swings. Let it work itself out, then step in as others are finally being stop'd out of their unworthy assumptions. Be disciplined.

Although several reversals and pullbacks were profitable, can feel the smarting from not having taken a critical set of breakouts as the 2nd trend ensued. Filters were perfect. But where was my head at the opportunities? At moments like this, it can facilitate an entry by considering certain levels of structure, price and momentum as stp-n-reverse levels. Think of the entry as a fork or inflection. Don't enter the one without considering the other. They are part of the same trade, not separate, and in so doing, can help alleviate the trend prejudice that slips in when feeling compelled to 'catch' the reaction before it gets away. What if the 'reaction' is the new trend? Then enter that pullback as a stp-n-reverse. Today, I resigned to think of the mental image of wearing a baseball cap, but turning it around backwards for some trades. It's like Tin Cup being told to untie one shoe when stuck in a shanking mode while playing golf. Throw something off kilter. Change it up. Remember, Corollary #2 to the Douglas Premise: "most of the opportunity that is missed in the markets is missed by traders who were unable to concede that the market could go the expected distance--but in the opposite direction." Get focused.

Takes trades where you find them. Sometimes signals are scant in the early going. Today, it was all in the YM for the 1st frame of the day. Be prepared to re-enter after being stp'd out if the aspects of the Entry Model are still in place, but the stretch of prices has exceeded initial support levels and proceeded to the next. Such things are not predictable. We don't predict, we position. ...and then once in the trade, we manage. Be alert. Be rehearsed. If this, then that. This is the role of the Trader.

A runner is difficult thing to establish for several reasons. First, it requires a multiple contract position. No use trying to make a runner of a 1-lot, or even a 2nd most of the time. Giving up profits on the assumption that one's genius to find the true start of the next intraday reversal trend is just arrogance. Despite all the technical minutia that can pile up into a Trade Entry Model, no such clairvoyance is remotely possible. Therefore, it falls on the third contract of a multi-contract position for such a task. Today, I gave up a 3pt TF paper gain twice trying to survive a series of retests into a full reversal, only to get knocked out just prior to the Philly Fed release. Then, having been 'trained' by the market not to do such a thing again, I trailed my stp to +3.5 pts on a second Sequent series reversal, only to gain the 3pts but give up a runner whose excursion eventually carried some 14 pts higher. You can't undue your previous mistake by applying the solution later at the wrong place. But such subtleties are hard to learn. The best I can learn from the experience is that-when determined to make the 3rd contract a runner--not to move my the stop-loss away from break-even until the first full pullback in the lower time frame bars has completed, thus at least giving some confirmation that the trend will continue, and providing a place to hide the stop with some gain for runner in hand... Stay focused.

Trading is full of apprehensions. "It's failing to go any higher..." at the point where it wants to breakout; "Having gone so high, this pullback has to turn soon and get back in trend..." at the juncture where it's about to fail and puke the whole morning back down. But the Trader is a machine. He leaves all the emotion to the Analyst and the Accountant. Their emotions and assumptions are congenital. There's no point in being annoyed with them. They are who they are, and they always want more of the same. But the Trader works on principles and rules. These, he imposes on himself from the outside. They are not inherited or given. They are acknowledged and practiced until habitual. The Trader is self-made. Assign the Trader limits to the temptations of bad trading behavior, and the requirement that he take certain entry models despite--or even because of--overwhelming apprehensions. The Trader is the Rule of Law.

After catching up with several profitable trades in the TF, I made a mistake of ignoring the still-climbing momentum and shorted too soon. On the way, up is was quite the opposite where I lacked the patience to stay in long at an inflection trigger as the market continued to climb. Patience is a difficult thing to measure while trading. But not having it at all is too often the source of critical trading errors. Take a breath before entering and before exiting before a target is acquired. Let the current bar flesh itself out... it just might surprise you in its closing moments.

Today fell prey to an old nemesis, the apparent character of the action. What it seems to be doing is often just a disguise to what it will eventually do. As Heraclitus reminds us down through the ages, "Nature loves to hide". If fact, it might be said of Mother Nature that its one of her most endearing qualities....except when you've been successfully deceived by it time and time and time again. So it was today as I reached for a pullback that was no pullback at all, but actually the budding trend ready to collapse. Later trades made up for it, but I need to recall those moments when I thought I knew what the market was trying to do under that very specific type of market action, and use that as an alarm bell to trigger a reminder of Corollary #2. "....most of the money that is lost in the markets is lost by traders who thought they knew which way the market was trying to go."

Persistent Trend Days are the most challenging to trade. And an opening gap-n-go leaves the shorts covering quickly to truncate the early pullback buy-opps. On such days I suffer from lack of patience to get something on the books, mentally pushing the market where it doesn't intend to go rather than just observing coolly what it is saying it is. By that time the 1st Chance Texaco model arrived, I was making up for earlier losses, and couldn't wait to book enough profit to breathe at the near break-even point for me on the day. Thus a frustrating day. Stay cool. Consider what's in front of you without jaundiced eye. It is what it is, whatever it is. Be into what it is and not what you want it to be.

Entry models are imperfect when incomplete. A little higher into an identified resistance or lower into a critical support. Today I balked at such a place when the TrendCheck should have put me in at least a partial position even though the more desired entry number in the NQ was still failing to be achieved. Being stubborn can leave you on the sidelines in critical moments, and the more ideal entry levels typically fail to accrue when the market is eager to continue in its trend. That's the description of a Persistent Trend Day and must be accepted and dealt with, as is. Stay focused.

Reducing the number of trades one takes towards fulfilling a profit goal would be ideal....if only it were that easy.
While fumbling with conflicting ORB signals in the NQ, I missed the ORB signals in the TF, which could have positioned me for both the early decline as well as the subsequent reversal. Keep your focus. The market is composed of disparate indices and indicators that must be monitored simultaneously as a whole. From there, event concepts can be recognized in confluence. Welcome to 2015. Welcome to the new volatility. The rules of Serial Sequent suggest an arithmetic algorithm for the fractal outline, but only a suggestion on length of waves from the Rules of Alternation. That means, when the entry model is still intact, but price has blown through successive levels of support / resistance, there's nothing to do but re-enter the trade after stop-outs...and today, those stop-outs were successive. Stay calm, wait til the next level, and consider re-entry there. But sailors take note, perhaps the Ides of 2015 are upon us with the January indicator signal flashing full on yellow. Stay focused.

The focus of trading is not prediction. If it was, I certainly would seldom have much profit to report. The focus of trading is on entry positioning--regardless of what trend I might tend to argue for at any given point. And when further volatility works beyond the stop-loss limits of an entry, but the entry model is still intact, then it is important to take a quick breath and access whether to simply re-enter the trade. Many of the best trades are hiding behind just such volatility, as if the market were really a person of perverse character, intending to shake as many would-be participants out of their otherwise correctly positioned trades before fulfilling the very trend they had risked their entries to position for, but now without them. Stay focused. Since leaving the CME, rollover for the TF at the ICE has been unclear. Volume was clearly better in the Dec contract today, even with CME's typical evacuation of their Dec contracts. ...so, trade the volume and stay with the Dec another day. Roll out of the CME's on Thursday after the 1st hour. This seems to be the best solution. ...and a good weekend to all...

The important thing to remember about taking losses is to stay calm, and not be too disparate to recover them. If your entry models reflect the variety of breakout and reversal patterns typical of market action, another set of trades are soon to reappear affording you the opportunity for a profitable day. If not, don't dig yourself in a hole that you cannot recover from by means of a single day's profit quota. Everything will be different tomorrow. Stay disciplined.

Price action can be so deceiving. What appears bullish can lead to a total collapse, and vice versa. But our job as the Trader is not to predict. Our job is to position. Today, at a critical buy level, I failed to place a stp n reverse order. That would have positioned me for the last and deepest leg of the collapse. I let price action convince me of the intent of the trend instead of positioning for the possibility of the outcome. "Most of the opportunity that is missed in the markets is missed by traders who couldn't concede that the market would go the expected distance...but in the opposite direction", someone once said. Remember the feelings of confidence that come with a trade. It can appear as a sort of internal cockeyness at such moments, and as such, should help send out an alarm bell that you might be missing something right in the roadway dead ahead, staring you in the face with deers eyes in the headlights. Wake up! Be the B-9 Environment Control Robot from Lost in Space. Wave your arms and call out "Danger! Danger!"

A second full Persistent Trend Day Up beginning in a row is a rare thing, and as such, provided scant few pullback buy opportunities to get in sync. And since this model offers only very selective fade opportunities, a carefully selected breakout trigger can often be the best and only way in which to participate. I balked at the only good one that appeared today, and was left with only the fade opps. Not all turns are readily I.D. with a limited set of entry models. Intraday swings are the stuff of the more common Test-n-Reject Day Model, and no doubt, there'll be more of those soon. Keep the losses small on days where reversals and breakouts are more carefully disguised.

Patience vs quick response seems like conflicting dialectic. In that regard, trading is much like the game of baseball. You almost have to time the moments of patience to fit the requirements of the game, but then be prepared to act almost instantaneously at the crack of the bat. Today seemed just such a day with a great deal of patience required to hold onto shorts at the 1st Frame HOD, once we had the runner in a hot-box between 2nd and 3rd. He had to make a move eventually. Throw the ball too soon and he simply goes the other way. Chase him down immediately and he simply retreats back safely to base. Today, I choked down too quickly and the runner slipped right out of the box and got the expected extra base. This kept the runner behind him from advancing, but what is the point of protecting profits when the early trade profits were all so small, and a daily profit quota not yet in hand? Watch for the extended rallies that grind on into the end of the 1st Frame. A correction usually comes in just about there.... right at the time best suited to wear a fielder out... Be patient. Read the play. Note signs of the impending outcome. Stay focused.

In futures trading, volatility is your friend... or at least it should be. Without it, swing reactions are muted and profit targets are stutter-step at best, and simply unattainable otherwise. Keep your eyes on your models. They should arrive with a confluence of technical aspects. .... all the more important that this confluence arrives when things are volatile, as early entries can be costly. Stay disciplined.

Persistent Trend Days are the hardest of all to trade, especially when the Trend is bull and the bull is looking tired. Even though we positioned in 3 good places to capitalize on the trend, a lack of patience needed to the slow choppy advance triggered me out of trades well before they had really developed. And fades were only profitable enough to partial out with, or get the stop to near b/e. Thus, I took almost twice the number of trades my Plan limits me to for the 1st frame. Fading the NQ these days, with its daily bull persistence has proved a negative to recent days results, reducing some of the decent profits from shorting the heavier TF. But volatility swings will return. Stay focused.

Market action for the day tends to 'condition' you. I repeatedly let decent trade profits go by in the early TF action today when just shy of achieving a 2 pt target, only to get stp'd out at b/e as the TF sought out lower lows. Then, when more decisive buy signal did appear, I was conditioned by my earlier mistakes and settled for the smaller profits I had ignored in earlier trades, only to watch the market continue ascending into the type of runner I had hoped to uncover earlier. Such does market action 'condition' you to eventually repeat a solution just when it no longer applies and the context has changed. And this is not a condition to which it is easily applied the euphemism "lesson learned". In the here and now, that lesson is long forgotten in the need to nail down the minimum profits wanted for the daily goal before the end of the 1st frame arrives.

Bifurcation, or divergence, as they call it, presents a special challenge to taking positions. The best way is to just trade the contract signals as they present themselves. That was the mistake made last Thursday which left me unprepared to capture the 1st frame bear breakdown. Today, that breakdown did not come so cleanly, but it did arrive with both sell signals in the ES and YM at their highs just as the TF was triggering an breakdown play into new lows for the day. This requires you to fade the highs, while playing a stp-n-rev TF breakdown level from the buy signals near the lows. Since you can't accurately predict the outcome, you must position for it, and accept the stp-out loss when re-triggering into trend. Stay focus, accept that you can't predict. Instead, position your Trade Plan as the models present themselves, and let the market be what it wants.

Today's inflection breakdown came with some extremely clear signals, both in the ES and NQ at the very High-of-Day, and at the breakdown by the TF at the inflection level. ...and yet I was doe in the headlights as the market collapsed. It's not that I let losses get big, it's that my skills were so equal to the lost opportunity. Convinced that the TF would eventually comply to the leadership of the other three, I fell prey to buying the Russell at support without a stop-n-reverse, as it doubled as an inflection level, so steeped in trend prejudice was my eye. There is always something to be learned from the market, but what can be discouraging is when lessons practiced already so many times before fail to elicit the needed trade behavior. All the more discouraging to have missed this initial break with all the technical warnings flashed by the TF these many weeks. Regroup and resolve. But in perspective...after slapping myself around a bit with a large trout, our frame or reference is not the larger daily trend. And although today's break might have been significant to the end of that trend, and indeed a great intraday swing opportunity that I balked at when it appeared, it's quite irrelevant to tomorrow's trades. And tomorrow is another day. Review the models. Remember where your head was at the turn, and resolve to recognize it through the haze of trend prejudice next time.

A bank holiday, worthy of a market holiday as well. Just want to say a word of acknowledgement and thanks to all our veterans, both living and departed.... for the ultimate sacrifice on the altar of freedom paid by those who died in battle....for us.... and for those who survived but had committed their lives to the same. We salute them all...
and say.... FREEDOM FIRST !!!!!!!!! ... there is no peace without freedom. Semper Fi.

Inflection breakout plays should be an integral part of the Trade Plan. Filtering the best ones in and those less likely to succeed out by means of a specific technique list of minutia is not so easily accomplished. There seems an abundance of fresh situations that must be accounted for across the broad spectrum of circumstances where the best breakouts occur. Today, just such a breakout occurred that I was unprepared for. It was easily the best trade of the trade and did occur as a clear inflection level with Serial Sequent, but only after an appraisal of other technical minutia suggested the trend had changed and a breakout would be a counter trend entry. The issue seems to be that some technical issues trump others, and in context of what other technical events are happening in tandem, their meaning can actually be the exact opposite to what they lend as interpretation in other context. ...and all this you have to recognize sometimes within a very short minute before the trade has exploded and you are left counting the chickens of your entry's expectations, but in the opposite direction..... Study the histories. Breakouts like this are not wholly uncommon, just perhaps not occurring every day. Find other examples. Note the similarities between that reveal elements of conceptual models. Learn the model. Recognize when elements of that model are coming together again. Be prepared. Stay focused.

There's something to be learned everyday from your trading. ....especially on days that you lose. Today, it was less my trading and more my trade plan that failed me. Without a confluence of indicators at the turns, I was leaning heavily on the internal structure algorithm we call Serial Sequent. But the important turns came at specific numbers from the Pivot Exhaustion Grid without the confluence of that algorithm. I have seen this many times before...and enough so that it must kick me into a research mode to consider a partial position with these important elements do not arrive in tandem, regardless of which is absent at the time. Have Plan. Stick to that Plan. Keep an open mind about what's in that Plan, and make changes to it only reluctantly and carefully. Because once included, a Plan's Entry Models must be taken with only the filters that accompany that particular model, trend opinions and apprehensions notwithstanding.

Several breakout signals that were In-Plan were passed today as had a minimum profit target already in hand. And yet nothing hurts one's psyche more than a trade that pays off so well once passed on. ...far more painful than even trades that lose. Just so it is with trading. When volatile breakouts occur, sitting on the sidelines is painful, and causes you doubt if your Trade Plan does not include them. Breakouts can be vital to a trading plan. Just be precise about their accompanying filters and avoid going into a hole for the day insisting that the next one will finally work out. Stay disciplined.
