ValhallaFutures follows 3 Opening Range breakout trades, that have not appeared as often during these high volatility days than did before.   Perhaps because each consists of a specific kind of pause pattern that occurs within or near the ORB, that they fail to complete their respective trigger formations in an environment way too impatient to start immediately into early 1st Frame trends that prevent us from identifying trade entry requirements.

 

But today, in the MNQ, the 3-Bar at the ORB Aberration formed within its precise requirements, and broke out cleanly in the intended direction.   (...nevermind that I dumped this profitable opening position too early, satisfied with an exit as it closed the Gap.

My current Automated Trade Management Strategy target setting of +55.25 is strictly mechanical.   I actually moved the default target of my OCO order to approximately this number when I was still trading the larger, Emini sized NQ contract--just to get the target out of the way for manual management purposes.   

And then....  the volatility hit current extremes, and now I find that trading small lots of the Micro's might demand I move it again, as 50 point swings in the Nasdaq Index has almost become routine...     ...but staying in an initial position as price makes these extremely volatile, whipsawing turns is very challenging, and requires a good bit of tolerance for stop-outs...     who knew...

So called market technicians tend to rely on their indicators for trade signals until something in the news seems to cancel out the integrity and effectiveness of their signals.   This betrays two things.  First, it betrays something about that trader himself.  It reveals that the trader actually believes in Efficient Market Theory, and behaves in the market place based on that false underlying market premise.  That is, the trends of the market are ruled by the news and economic conditions.  "We have nothing else to learn from price", said Karl Marx.  Price, he concluded, was simply the sum total of everything that had been revealed in recent economic fundamentals up to that point. 

Second, it reveals that the technical methods used by that trader must be suspended during times of intense economic news exposure....because they simply can't be relied upon to reveal market trend, and therefore are deficient as elements of a successful trade plan. 

However, Adam Smith's 'invisible hand of Providence', as exposed by the fractal algorithm of Serial Sequent, not only survives market volatility, it seems all the more exposed because of it.     ....if you can survive the new volatility challenge that has accompanied the recent market topping area of extreme bifurcation and whipsawing turns....
