Each day is a new day. Each day is new birth. Each day is new blood. Don't take the baggage from the day before into this new trading frame. That day is tainted. A big successful day can taint the following day with over confidence and over trading. A hemorrhaged day can be followed by timid, late entries that make excessive demands on your psyche for 'confirmation'. Instead, try to start clean. The Trader has no memory. That's the Accountant's function. He remembers everything. He is the history of our regrets. The Analyst has no memory. He will over trade endlessly until at last one of his predictions actually works. Then he'll say, quite in earnest, "I told you so. The world should be listening to me." The Trader is, well, kinda stupid. He only knows what's in his Trade Plan. And if what happened yesterday didn't manage to creep into the laminated Trade Plan he has before him as the Opening Bell rings, he does the same thing he did yesterday, when presented with it, at the right edge of his video screen. He's Andy Warhol's famous quote, "I want to be a machine."

Nothing is worse for your psychology than to nearly make your daily profit goal in early trading, only to give it all away--and then some--trying to get reach it exactly. There is no rule in your trade plan called 'All Or Nothing'. It is easy to see in yourself as weakness a tendency to quit while ahead while still shy of that profit goal. And so, to combat that appraisal, you find your mental state as one of being willing to give it all back while to trying to reach it. That is a gamblers mentality. The accumulated profits don't matter if you don't have everything you want. Don't let the desire to get everything you wanted to push you into trading away everything you already have. You're not the gambler. You are the Trader. ...and the business of trading requires humility and acceptance of imperfection and even dissatisfaction in your efforts to achieve your daily frame goal. At such times, it is critically important to ACCEPT THE OUTCOME.

The secret to a consistent Trade Plan are its disparate technical event elements. It's never a matter of experienced intuition. Intuition, in the world of trading, is the dictionary definition of inconsistency. There is no guessing when following a good Trade Plan. Either the disparate technical pieces have all fallen into place, or they haven't. That doesn't mean your Event Concept Models work every time. It just means you take them whether when they all arrive in near simultaneous time. When the position fails, you accept your stop outs, and re-access if the model is still intact at a deeper level of price and at a further number along the Pivot-Exhaustion Grid. If so, that model is now even MORE likely to work than before where it stopped you out as the excursion continued. Therefore, the Martingale betting strategy adjusts your entry to increase the size--not an easy thing to do if you lose faith in your Entry Concept at its earlier stop-out.
Follow the Plan. It's far more likely to lead to consistency than your feelings. Feelings are like the fantasy concept of George Lucas' Star Wars 'the force'. And the best advice in the real world to have schooled the challenged Luke Skywalker was "Fade your feelings, Luke." Follow your principles. Feelings are lies about the real world, and just as in politics and ethics, arrive to induce you into a decision of comfort. Lies, of necessity, arrive as sugar. They always tell you to do what is easy, what is intellectual, and what seems logical in the false world of intellectual construct. Whereas, the truth tends to arrive at best as 'Plain Jane', and at worst as a bitter pill. And just so is it in trading. The best places to enter appear not because they are easy, but because they are hard.

There should be a limit to the number of trades you take per frame. Today, in the first frame, I far exceeded my 10 trade max. When the volatility appears, it draws you in....too often like the proverbial moth to flame. Today, the bounces were big enough at supports and Sequents to accommodate my video gaming impulses....but such capitulation to such behavior usually ends badly. Have goals in all aspects of trade management. a max loss per day or frame, a profit goal to help curb over-trading, a maximum losing trades in a row (with full stop-loss stop-outs), and a maximum number of total trades. You cannot control the market. You can only control yourself.

The classic H&S pattern gets its most references in textbooks to a reversal pattern. My experience is just the opposite. It works as an H&S only if the left most shoulder of the pattern holds as support/resistance against
any price threats of retesting the extreme price point at the head. If this left shoulder is broken in the attempt, as it was today in the RTY, then it becomes a much more effective presage of renewed price extremes than it does a as reversal pattern. Thus, the big tug-a-war between the ever bull NQ and the unusual sloth-like behavior in the RTY today was settled by the RTY's bear leadership, not the NQ bull. Check out the book Pivots, Patterns and Intraday Swing details for more details and examples of this H&S presage failure signal.

As traders, we tend to fall in love with our signalling minutia. We get down in the weeds of our numbers, our counts, our levels and our cross-overs. But Day Model supersedes all. And Test-n-Reject is the most common model among the three. It can be a beauty to behold, running below your boat like a Great White threatening to surface. It's simply ominous. Best when detected to simply your pull your tuna lines. What, you're going to try and hook a shark with a tuna line? ...good luck with that. Either climb on board its back and swim with it on ahead at bull speed, or step back and wait for a pullback you can sink your hooks into. At such times, break-out plays look genius.... at least for those of us dumb traders who can't wrap our heads around them so quickly as to recognize their potential in time... on days like this... when the undercurrent of a 2nd Trend Test-n-Reject model is lurking just under the surface of the murky waters beneath.
