The first trend of the day often fails, and its turn becomes the 2nd and truer trend of the 1st Frame. And so it is that I try so hard to I.D. that early turn and position accordingly. What I've always noticed about missing that turn (early stop outs in both the YM and NQ) is an emotional reaction to participating in the outcome of that 2nd trend, drawing you back into to trying to find the turn of the 2nd trend, long before it has finally taken its due course. So it was today, despite the fact that I've seen this so many times before, and should be able to recognize an emotional state taking over in stead of a better qualified trade model entries. An interesting complication of note worthiness today was the initial bullish divergence in both the Big Caps and the Russell Mid-Caps, which both held relative strength into early 2nd Trend buy signals while the NQ exhibited a more full mini-crash. Thus, the action helped draw me into incorrectly to fading the development of the 2nd trend instead of properly identifying the inflection levels from which I could have captured their 'catch-up' collapse and participated in that 2nd trend. Stay alert. There is often one sector leading the way that seems well out of sync with the others. That's the true cognoscenti in the market place. There is no other. Don't be discouraged or embarrassed at being stopped out at the clean turn of the 1st trend. If your attentive, there may be other ways left to participate, no doubt of lessor glory, but not necessarily at lessor profits than to have caught the leader at the initial turn.
