Fading the initial move of the day is a standard bread-n-butter trade opportunity. First trends tend to fail, and second trends tend to set for greater impulse. "Second trends are where the surprises hide." --But what happens when you fail to find the first turn? You can get caught up trying to find the turn of that second trend, and that can be expensive. --which was what happened to me to day. Eventually, the fractal algo gave a big buy signal in the RTY that finally worked, and along with one successful MNQ trade, I went from deficit to profits... but it took far too many small stop-outs along the way to finally find it..
The whole issue would have been solved had I taken a Stop-n-Reverse from long to short in the MNQ's, for a huge move with the second trend into the Curves. I missed the tops, across the board, and missed the in-trend Stop-n-Reverse into short for the ride down.
